The 1.25" diameter barrel 82° Series 6.7mm Eyepiece from Explore Scientific is engineered to deliver a wide field of view with a long eye relief, making it ideal for planetary and deep-space observations. Viewing comfort is also optimized for eyeglass wearers.
All eyepieces in the 82° Series are parfocal, so there will be little to no need to refocus when moving from one focal length to the next. This eyepiece features a textured surface for a sure grip when changing it out, and it is argon filled for water and fog proof performance when used in extreme temperatures and climates.
This is precision built by an accomplished/retired telescope maker with decades of experience.
The miniature telescope mount is a fully functional work of art. .250" precision ground steel axles running in bronze castings. There is a bronze worm gear (100 teeth) drive for RA axis. The worm runs in preloaded ball bearings with anti-backlash spring. The declination axis has a precision screw driven tangent arm. Both are operable for fine
adjustment of pointing. There are also adjustable clutches on each axis. The pedestal legs have working leveling screws. The main metal column has a 1/4-20 tripod mounting thread so you can use your own tripod and observe comfortably outside. The 2 stainless steel dec counter weights are adjustable. More can be added as needed.
These mounts are also motorizable with an optional dual axis drive that is 9 volt battery powered.
This motor option doesn't track at super slow sidereal (star) rate, (just desk top display rate).
A video of a miniature Newtonian telescope with this type mount fitted with the optional drives is at:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ip83_O4QZ-w&ab_channel=JanetRiffle.
BUT please note that the motor drives are not part of the sale of this miniature telescope mount and the images above are shown FYI.
I will be supportive of the buyer for any optional custom work to configure it to your desire. This is a very unique offering.
Not to confuse you, but these mounts have been
modified to track and actually take deepsky astrophotos per the M51 galaxy picture above. The RA axis was driven by a minute hand of a modified battery powered clock and allows for accurate 30 second unguided exposures with a quality 50mm fl. lens and cmos camera. Also shown above are example cardboard tube assemblies for ideas. To my knowledge, these mounts are the smallest
working
astronomical telescope mounts ever made/offered.
